2022 New Year’s Goals

2021 was a big year full of ups and downs for everyone. I started the year with a list of goals and now it’s time to check in and see what I accomplished before setting my goals for the upcoming year.

2021 New Year’s Goals

Get married

Thankfully this was an easy one to check off! We started our year off in the best way by getting married January 2nd. I may be biased, but it was the best wedding EVER!

Reach 1M TikTok Followers

Unfortunately, this one did not happen, but I don’t put too much stake in it. Throughout the year my follower count has yo-yoed like crazy so at this point I just go with the flow. Maybe next year!

Go Somewhere I’ve Never Been

This is my favorite goal to have each year because there are so many opportunities to go somewhere new whether it’s somewhere in Florida or halfway around the world! This year the biggest “somewhere new” was definitely Hawaii! Going to Hawaii for our honeymoon allowed us to experience an entirely new culture and allowed me to check off state number 49 I’ve visited!

Go to Disney 5 times

This was an easy one to accomplish. Since Covid thwarted our plans to spend Spring Break in NYC, Mom and I spent the week at Disney instead! In addition to that trip, I also went to Magic Kingdom in a downpour to watch the Happily Ever After one last time before they changed the fireworks show; Jared and I went to the pass holder preview of the Ratatouille ride at Epcot one evening after work; and we drank around the world at Epcot for Jared’s birthday.

Run 6 5Ks

Mom and I ran 6 5K races this year. My favorite races were the Ft Hamer Bridge Run and the Bayside 5K. One I definitely will not be doing again is the Robinson Twilight 5K. It was way too hot and the fish smell was overbearing for a majority of the race.

Read 24 books

I managed to stay ahead of this goal all year, which I was really proud of. I ended the year having read 30 books. Some were read aloud for my students, some were audio books, and I loved (almost) all of them. Check out my blog post about all the books I read this year!

2022 Goals

Reach the 500 Club at Pure Barre

This past year I signed up for the Platinum Barre Challenge (15 classes each month for the whole year) and I didn’t know if I would succeed or epically fail. To make it happen, I started taking 6 a.m. classes 3 times a week in addition to Monday evenings and any weekend classes I can fit in. I’m ending the year with 452 classes under my belt and I’m looking forward to hitting the 500 club early next year!

Go Somewhere I’ve Never Been

Like I said, this is my favorite goal each year. I have no idea what destination may check this one off the year, but I know I’ll do it somehow!

Read 24 books

I thought about increasing my reading goal since I surpassed 24 books this past year, but then I realized surpassing my goal is more motivating to me than struggling to hit a number. Reading is so fun for me and I don’t want a goal to change that.

Start Selling Merch

You may notice hitting 1 million TikTok followers is not a goal for 2022. I’ve decided to stop trying to make it happen (in hopes that it will happen). Instead, I want to turn my efforts toward selling merch on TikTok. I have ideas, I just have to make it a reality!

Get a Highly Effective rating for the 2021-2022 school year

As a first-year teacher last year, I was told to not expect Highly Effective marks in my observations. I was overjoyed to receive almost entirely Highly Effective marks and an overall Highly Effective rating. Of course, now that’s the standard I’m going to hold myself to every year for the rest of time, so for this school year, I’d like to have the same success.

Run 6 5Ks

I did it last year, so let’s do it again! Mom and I are starting this goal off strong by running the Disney Princess 5K in February!

Make 3 Improvements to Our Home

This year we really started settling into our house and I want to keep that ball rolling. Whether the improvements are big or small, they will add so much in our journey to make our house a home.
